Tips for Choosing the Right Finish

Choosing the right furniture for your office takes a lot of consideration and while practicality and cost-effectiveness may seem like the key factor, making sure an edit suite desk looks to part is half of the battle. Not only with an edit suite desk need to be sturdy and hardwearing for daily use, but it should reflect your brand, fit in with the surroundings and promote productivity. So, what are the options?

Contrasting Colours

The décor of the rest of your office should inspire the correct finish for your edit suite desk but that doesn’t mean opting straight for the company colours, as you risk the office being a washed out. The trick to good overall interior design is to pick a couple of contrasting colours as opposed to one dominant colour, to make your installation really stand out. If your office is bright and vibrantly paints, neutral tones may be the best option for furniture finishes, or if your office is greyscale, choosing a brightly coloured finish will look fantastic.

Create A Distinct Look

Most broadcasting industries will require more than one edit suite desk and if you’re refurbishing the furniture in a number of rooms, there’s no need to keep all the finishes the same colour. Creating a distinct look for different rooms will nurture a stimulating environment, maximising the creativity of employees. Gallery furniture can benefit from muted wooden finishes to provide a calming effect while mixing suites could utilise bolder, primary colours.

Mix It Up!

Edit suite desks don’t need to be finished in a single colour, for a more distinctive look you could try combining both different types of veneer and colours. Many of our clients opt for a hardwood base or legs in a wood finish of their choosing be it oak, ash or maple, before selecting a contrasting colour for the desk top. As Knotty Ash use 3D colour visualisations and CAD systems to design your installation, you can alter the design and change colours around, to test out multiple designs, before we begin the build.
